If you're hankering to get a leg up on perl you could do worse than to start with John Callender's nifty book. Back when I was still teaching at UCSB extension I was going to use this as the text for my web maintenance class.

Structure Hunger? Well, illusions are what magic is made of, and cognition is what illusions are made of, so don't judge this book by it's genre. The mentalism and body magic bits are pretty spot-on for "sensory acuity" drills.

The Structure of Magic, Vol. I

John Grinder and Richard Bandler probably had no idea the things that would someday be done in their name when they wrote this book. Most noteworthy for it's idealistic aim of creating a method of people-helping that completely protects the "psychic integreity" of the client by separating content from process, letting the client attend to the what's while the therapist helps only with the how. B&N link coming soon.

The Structure of Magic, Vol. II

Where Vol. I focuses primarily on verbal interaction, Vol. II embraces more non-verbal. Introduces representational system matching, polarity sorting, formal notation.
